Tax Senior

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

A Senior Tax Associate performs most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. Often leads a number of Tax Staff Associates, instructs them in work to be performed, reviews the work done, and directs necessary revisions. The position requires technical, client service, supervision, marketing, and administrative skills. The duties of a Tax Senior are similar in nature of those of an in-charge tax accountant, but they cover a broader area. The salary range is $55,000-$90,000 dependent on skill level and experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions

  • Prepares the most complex tax returns including personal, fiduciary and business types.
  • Performs less complex tax research projects.
  • Performs tax planning, including multiple scenarios or multiple years
  • Understands entity tax basis and how that impacts tax returns, projections and consulting engagements
  • Analyzes and drafts responses to IRS & FTB notices
  • Assists with IRS & FTB audits
  • Assists with payroll, BOE or county property tax audits
  • Assists QB clients with setup and/or cleanup of data
  • Understands & posts payroll liabilities & wage base adjustments as needed
  • Sets up new payroll items when needed
  • Begins to take charge of client relationship and be primary contact for client
  • Delegates projects to staff who can handle them most efficiently.

Government Consulting Senior

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

Performs most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. Often leads a number of staff accountants, instructs them in work to be performed, reviews the work done, and directs necessary revisions. Demonstrates the ability to make decisions on all but the most unusual accounting. When problems arise, the senior consultant outlines them for the manager or principal and then acts on advice. The salary range is $55,000-$90,000 dependent on skill level and experience.

Prepares time budgets on jobs and leads staff accountants to employ methods that will accomplish objectives effectively and efficiently. Displays professional conduct and conveys confidence and ease in the presence of staff and client representatives. Maintain ongoing communication with clients and consulting team on project progression and arising issues.

Essential Functions

  • Performs diversified consulting assignments under the direction of a supervisor, manager and/or principal.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and follow processes that have been developed and leverage that knowledge by training staff.
  • Participates in the planning of consulting engagements, including developing a budget and timeline.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the audit process, how to prepare audit documentation, and communication with external auditors.

The Senior Auditor will be given a wide variety of diverse accounting & auditing assignments within the not-for-profit, governmental, and/or privately owned company sectors. A Senior Auditor is expected to work in a team-focused environment to ensure work is completed timely and accurately. The salary range is $55,000-$90,000 dependent on skill level and experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists the managers and partners with all aspects of the audit engagement, including planning, risk assessment, conducting fieldwork, communicating and coordinating with the client, and preparing financial statements.

Client Advisory Services (CAS) Senior

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

The CAS Senior is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting for the firm’s clients. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The CAS Senior supervises the Staff in the CAS Department and oversees the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll cycles and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and many accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end client tax and audit projects, and the support of budget and forecast activities. The salary range is $55,000-$90,000 dependent on skill level and experience.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and reviews work performed by staff in the CAS department, including but not limited to, the Accounts Payable cycle, Accounts Receivable cycle, Payroll cycle, Bank Reconciliations, Grant Reconciliation, etc.
  • Prepare month-end closing journal entries
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Prepare and maintain monthly budgets and forecasting
  • Responsible for gathering audit documentation and support requested by outside auditors
  • Lead special projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Work with supervisor to develop and maintain procedures and checklists to facilitate client and department work
  • Reconcile client records to trial balance, which may include analytical procedures, and performs schedule computations of prepaids, accruals, property and equipment, and calculate depreciation expense

Tax Manager

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of diversified, complex, tax-related tasks and supervises other tax department personnel. The salary range is $95,000 – $150,000 depending on skill level and experience.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of tax issues. Considered to be a source of technical information for tax department members and clients.
  • Researches complex tax issues for presentation to engagement team members, partner, clients and others
  • Prepares most complex returns
  • Prepares tax projections and is involved in planning for complex clients.
  • Reviews tax accrual and associated working papers.
  • Analyzes IRS notices and drafts responses.
  • Reviews IRS notice responses prepared by other tax personnel.

  • Reviews & approves tax returns as assigned, coordinate & review tax shelf returns
  • Acts as a resource to prepare complex transactional analysis or complex tax research
  • Is a referral source for A&A client tax issues
  • Backs-up partners for client calls in their absence
